Random thoughts March 21 2014

Kevin Felts blogger and political commentator

This post started off about Russian President Putin and how much of a failed leader our own president is. Then I got off on a tangent about free trade and jobs. The end result was just some kind of random thought article.

While looking for news on the Crimea situation I came across an article on the Wall Street Journal – Warnings From the Ukraine Crisis.

I do not fully agree with the author, but I do agree with a lot of what she says. One comment should ring a rang a wake up call for the United States,

We have been a nation divided for a long time. Whether the division was by race, sex, sexual preference, religion, political party,,, we have been and will continue to be a nation divided.

Since the late 1960s and 1970s we have become more divided with each passing decade. This division shows in the quality of our elected officials.

China The New Face Of Global Domination

Lets talk about history for a couple of minutes, then let’s move onto the heart of this article. One of the main reasons Germany was defeated in WW II was the United States and Russia produced more tanks, planes, ships and guns than Germany. We had the resources where Germany did not.

World War II boiled down to numbers. Where Germany could only produce a certain amount of tanks, trucks, planes, and lacked raw materials such as oil and iron deposits, the United States and Russia had no such limitations.

For 35 – 40 years after World War II, or until the late 1970s and early 1980s the United States was the worlds production powerhouse. We made everything from toys to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles. The economy was strong, there was a thriving middle class who could afford to buy a home, buy a car or truck or both, have a family, times were good.

Then along came corporate greed and free trade. Wall street not satisfied with the profits they were making decided to move the factories to China, exploit low wage workers, then close the factories here in the states which as led to the death of the middle class.

Why are humans so violent

Back in the late 1980s or early 1990s there was a story that came out of Lake Charles Louisiana about a missing girl. The community had organized search efforts, people organized, looked through wooded areas, people put up posters,,,.

The turning point was when the local police got a list of convicted sex offenders. One of the sex offenders happened to live close to the girl. When the police questioned the guy about the girl, he confessed to killing her. The girls body was still in his house.

It just so happened that the killer also volunteered to search for the girl.

What kind of sicko kills a child, then helps look for the body?

More recently there is the story of the 12 year old girl from New Jersey who was killed for her bicycle. The accused perpetrators in this act are 15 and 17 years old.

What does this say about the future of our society when children kill each other over bike parts?

Why do we do what we do

survivalistThe age old question, why do we act the way we do? If you have spent any time with other people, you have met someone that is stubborn or so hardheaded that they are difficult to deal with. If you say something, they are ready to tell you how wrong you are. Lets back up a little bit, “why” do people act like that? Why are people stubborn and resistant to change?

Why do we make the decisions that we do?

Why do we act the way we do?

Why does society act the way it does?

Why do we pay taxes like we do?

Why do we vote the way we do?

Why are some cultures in a constant state of conflict?

Why are some cultures in a constant state of peace?

Why are people resistant to change?

Why do we vote the same two failed political parties into office over and over?

Are cultures defined by money, sex, religion, greed,,, all of them, none of them, maybe some of them?
