Support for gun control fading

Rate This Article

Good news ladies and gentlemen.  The Independent Journal Review posted an article detailing how Americans are Getting Tired of Gun Control Pushes.

Support for more gun control is waning across all political parties, including liberals and democrats.  This should be common sense, gun control does not reduce violent crime. Criminals do not care about laws. Society should take the people who mental problems and ensure they receive help.

Democrats (from 79% to 71%)
Liberals (from 75% to 67%)
Women (from 69% 55%)
Republicans (from 39% to 29%)

If democrats and liberals want to reduce violent crime:

1. Open community colleges in low income housing areas. Make attendance mandatory for anyone living in public housing. Provide people on welfare with a clear path out of poverty.  Democrats however would rather keep people in poverty than provide them with a path out of poverty.  As long as people are poor and dependent on the government, they will continue to vote democrat.

When people lose hope of bettering themselves, they figure they have nothing to lose.  So what if they go out in a rain of gunfire, at least they get their name in the news.

We have to break the cycle of families spending generations in the welfare line.

2. Make mental health services free to the public, regardless of income levels. We as a society need to remove the stigma from mental health. If someone has a problem, society as a whole needs to address said problem.

In a capitalist society we are taught we either sink or swim.  You either work and provide for yourself, or you sink into poverty.

Mental illness and poverty are like oil and water, they do not go well with each other.  Those who need the help the most are unable to afford it.

3. End school bullying. Establish a national awareness program to end bullying.

The path is clear, we either address mental health and poverty, or we continue to deal with shootings like Sandy hook and Aurora Colorado.

The war on guns is pretty much over, except the crying that is.

Parents of daughters likely to vote republican

Rate This Article

There is an article on yahoo shine about why parents of daughters are more likely to vote Republican than to vote democrat.

While the article is “kind of” insightful, I think it misses the mark.  Rather than focusing on core Republican values, the article goes off into left field talking about sex.

Sex is a small part of the issue.  The larger issue at hand is this thing called “responsibility.”

The article states,

Parents of daughters, it seems, have an interest in reducing male promiscuity.

Personally, I think male promiscuity has little to do with the issue.  The larger issue here is taking responsibility for your actions.

Between promiscuity and taking responsibility for your actions, I feel taking responsibility reflects a larger percentage of the Republican party.  Family values, taking responsibility for the children you bring into the world, holding a job,,,, are all part of the Republican party stands for.

The State Of Social Security Disability

Rate This Article

Do you want to know how bad things are? Do you “really” want to know? Chances are, if you pass your time watching sports rather then watching the news, or reading gossip websites rather then reading news websites, you probably do not want to read this article.

Since 2009, an average of 150,000 jobs are created every month inside the United States.

During that same time, an average of 250,000 people apply for Social Security Disability every month.Kevin Felts blogger and survivalist

In other words, 100,000 more people apply for social security disability every month over those that find a job.

Around 14 million people currently draw Social Security disability.

Source14 Million Americans Don’t Work Due To Disability, And The Number Is Growing

The system is broken. 100,000 more people file for SS disability rather then find a job every month. It is just a matter of time before the financial system collapses.

It is impossible for 150,000 workers to support 250,000 people on disability, and that is the direction we are headed.

As long as the Federal Reserve can print money out of thin air, everything will be ok.

Child Support Social Inequality

Rate This Article

Here we have another example of child support social inequality – the father is ordered not to have anymore kids, but the mothers are not ordered to do anything.

Society points the finger at the father and says – “do not have more kids then you can support.”  What does the mother get?  Does she ridiculed for having sex with a man that does not want to support the children they made?  Is the mother ordered to get a job and provide health insurance?

Kevin Felts working on his bar-b-q pit

working on his bar-b-q pit

The last time I went to a child support review, I saw several dads being put on probation, one father was arrested and handcuffed right there in the court room.  Some dads were sentenced to 2 years in jail, but the sentence was deferred as long s they were making payments.  If they missed a payment he would be arrested and put in jail.

During the time I was sitting in the court room watching these fathers being sentenced, not a single mother was charged with not paying child support.  There were several mothers who did not show up for their hearing a bench warrant was issued for their arrest, not a single deadbeat mom appeared before the judge.

I thought it rather odd that the majority of the people being held responsible for supporting the children were the dads, but the freeloading moms got a free ride.  Not a single mom was asked if she had a job or providing health insurance for the child.  The financial burden was placed solely on the father.

How are we supposed to be a fair and just society, when parents are not held to the same level of responsibility?  Why do the majority of the moms get a free ride on the system, but the dads are prosecuted as criminals?

The child support system does one thing, and one thing only, it turns a parent into a criminal. Sending a parent to jail over child support is nothing more then debtors prison.

If the government was truly concerned about the welfare of the child, shouldn’t both parents be held to the same level of responsibility? For every dad that is ordered to pay child support, shouldn’t there also be a mother who is ordered to support her child?

There are not an equal number of women and men being ordered to support the children, as the system is tilted in the favor of women.

The nation is screwed, and I mean royally screwed.

National Debt

The government is so far into debt, there is no way future generations can pay off the debt. As of the posting of this article the US Government is $16.4 trillion in debt. With credit card debt and student loan debt, we owe more like $58 trillion.Kevin Felts, blogger and survivalist

We are throwing millions of dollars to illegal immigrants. Between 2009 and 2011 we spent around $91 million on health care for illegal immigrants.

Social Security disability is expected to go bankrupt by 2016.

Congress is looking for ways to allow millions of illegal immigrants to become citizens.

If the nation is broke, how are we supposed to bankroll millions of new people collecting benefits?

Kidney stones suck

We were supposed to go to the homestead this weekend.  But on friday I started having pains so bad I had to take some Vicodin – which I have a prescription for.  The stupid stone did not pass over the weekend.

Maybe We Need Less Prisons

Rate This Article

Maybe we need less prisons and more reform. Instead of putting people in prisons, or putting them on probation where they have to pay a probation fee, maybe we need more trade schools and colleges?

Maybe we should build a school next to every public housing project? When someone enters public housing they are automatically enrolled in the attached school?

For single parents, child care would be provided so the parent can attend school.

What promoted this post? It was an article on Fox News – European courts spare accused pedophile, hacker from American justice

With over 100 million people receiving welfare, and since our prisons are full, maybe its time to reform society?

Maybe something went terribly wrong in the past 100 years?  Something that has to be fixed before society breaks?

Why would other first world nations view our justice system as barbaric? Maybe its because we punish people for their entire lives for a one time mistake? Maybe its because of how we demonize acts such as smoking weed?

If something does not harm society, why should it be illegal?

Lets take making your own whiskey for example. Why is it illegal to make your own whiskey? Because the government loses tax dollars on the manufacture and sale of the whiskey.

Why should someones life be ruined because they wanted to make and sale a product, and not pay taxes on it? Is it “that” important that the government collect a dollars in sales tax?

Someone makes their own whiskey and sales it, so what? What it he big deal? Are people people who sale eggs arrested like people who sale whiskey?

Why cant people make a product at home, sale it to their friends and family without having to worry about being arrested and thrown in jail?

Something has gone seriously wrong in society.

Why Do Fathers Disappear From Households

Rate This Article

Washington Times has an interesting article about the relationships of fathers and their children – Fathers disappear from households across America.  Even though the article is well-written, it is full of fluff.  Nowhere did I see the author addressing the root causes of the problem.

Lets narrow the topic down to two points – personal responsibility and criminalization of non-custodial parents.

Personal Responsibility

As an example I am going to use a friend of the family who got knocked up by a guy who already had 4 kids by 4 different women. Lets place the blame where it belongs, on the mothers and the father.

With so many birth control options on the market, why aren’t women protecting themselves from getting knocked up?

Why isn’t the father being more responsible with his seed?

Who is to blame? Both the mother and the father.

Society does not want to point the finger at the mother and ask “why didn’t you protect yourself?”  If the mother willingly spread her legs, or bent over, then she must share half the blame.  Not only should the mother share the blame, but she should also share in the responsibility of raising the child.  That means getting a job and providing health insurance for the child.

Why should society have to pay for irresponsible people?  Instead of telling the mother she has to get a job and support the child (or children), the family is given welfare.

Shouldn’t both parents share the burden of providing for the children?  How is it fair that one parent is forced to pay child support while the other parent can sign up on welfare?

Single mom walks into welfare office, tells the people something like, “I got three kids by three different men, I aint got no job, so give me some food stamps.”  If society held the mother to the same level of responsibility as the father, the mother would either have to get a job and support her children, or go to jail.  But yet we wonder why so many dads walk away?

Personal responsibility should include both parents, and not just one or the other.

Criminalization Of Non-Custodial Parents

I get so sick and tired of having to prove that I have the same rights as my ex-wife. Take my kids to enroll them on school, I have to bring a copy of the divorce decree. I wonder if women have to do the same thing? If a woman enrolls a child in school, do they have to prove they have a legal right to enroll the child?

Non-Custodial Parents are required to pay child support and provide health insurance for the child. But the custodial parent can sit on their ass and not have to do anything.

The last time I went for a review of my child support, there were several fathers that were told they either had to pay money that day, or they would go to jail. The fathers were told they owed $5k, $7k, $20k,,, even $100k on child support.

I did not see a single mother that was told she had to pay or would go to jail.

How is that a fair justice system?

Why aren’t custodial parents held at the same level of responsibility as non-custodial parents?

It is the criminalization of being a non-custodial parent that helps to fathers away.  Divorce is emotionally and financially devastating, so why treat fathers like criminals?

Lets see, either walk away, or be treated like a criminal.

The USA Is Doomed

Rate This Article

Kevin Felts, blogger and survivalistThe United States of America is being bled to death. It will not be long before the bleeding takes its toll, as to which society will have some serious issues to face. Do we stop the bleeding, or do we allow the Federal Reserve to print more money out of thin air?

In the following article I will provide three examples of how the United States is being bled to death from within. All of these examples are based off actual people, and actual events. The names are not being disclosed to protect their privacy.

Example 1

This family has been on some kind of welfare for at least 20 years, and for 2 generations.

The grandmother was on welfare for the birth of all of her children.

The children were raised with medicaid providing health insurance, and food stamps providing nutrition assistance.

When one of the children reached 18 years of age, the grandmother applied for, and received social security disability for the child. So now, the grown child will never have to work, and will receive health care for the rest of its life, and without ever having to work a single day in her life.

How Can People Justify Wasting Food

Rate This Article

Walking through walmart today, saw a pack of ground meat and steak sitting on a shelf. The shelf was in the canned goods section, and not the cold foods section.

I picked up the meat, checked to see if it was still cold, then took the two packs to the freezer section.

Is this what humanity has come to, that we can waste enough meat that would feed a family for a day, maybe 2 days, or even 3 days?

The person that left the packs of meat on the shelf, have they gone hungry a single day in their lives?

The person that left the meat on the shelf, were they on food stamps or welfare?

Did the person give a single thought to the animal that had to die to put the meat on the shelf?

What about the cost of raising the animal? The cost of butchering, packing and shipping the meat, did the person give a single thought to all of that?

Sometimes I am ashamed of the human race. How can we justify wasting food while others starve?

I Wants Me Some Welfare

Rate This Article

I am sick and tired of supporting people who are too lazy, or too stupid to get a job.  Why should I work a 40 hour a week job, pay child support, pay for health care, barely scrap by,,, when people on welfare get all kinds of free stuff.

I want me some free food.

I want me some free housing.

I want someone to help me pay my electric bill.

I want the state to pay for my kids health care.

Right now I pay close a little over $600 a month for health care and temporary disability insurance.

I have been working since 1984, and what do I have to show for it?  Not too much.  I may not make a lot of money, but shouldn’t I be able to keep a good percentage of what I earn?

Health insurance alone takes a HUGE bite out of my pay check.  Instead of helping the working class out, taxes and health care cost continue to skyrocket.  I have not received a cost of living raise in something like 5 years.  During that 5 years prices continue to spiral out of control.

You want to know what the problem is?  I was raised with this little thing called a work ethic.  A work ethic is this concept that I believe I should support myself and my family.

Up until around the 1990s there was a stigma that went along with being on welfare.

Today, it seems that people are proud to be on welfare.  I gots me some welfare and food stamps,,,, and people see no issue with that.

Welfare is a form of stealing.  The government takes from those that do, and gives to those that do not.  Too lazy to work?  No problem, here is your housing voucher, cell phone, and food stamps.

I am pissed off that this welfare nation reelected obama.  It seems that very few people care about the greater good.  Who in their right mind would vote for welfare reform if they are on welfare.  The more people on welfare, the better chance the democrats have of being reelected.

Democrats – welfare for everyone

Republicans – how are we going to pay for this

Democrats – we will just tax the rich,,, I mean the middle class

Republicans and Democrats – maybe the federal reserve can print more money?  Yay, more money to spend,,,,,,.

Sooner or later that “printing more money” has to be paid back.  Why is going to be paying the bill?  Not the people on welfare because they aint got no job.

By reelecting obama, special interest groups screwed the working middle class up the ass.  One day this house of cards is going to come crashing down.

When the house of cards does come crashing down, there is going to be hell to pay.

Lazy moms cost the economy 100 billion dollars

Rate This Article

You want to know what is really nice about our society?  We get to demonize certain groups, and then victimize other groups.

An example of this is an article posted on CNN – unpaid child support cost tax payers $53 billion.

The article talks about how dead beat dads do not pay child support, and if the child has to go on public assistance, this cost the tax payers billions of dollars every year.

If society wanted a fair and balanced system, make sure both sides share an equal burden.  In the case of child support, an unfair portion of the burden has been placed on the dad.

To be fair to both sides of the issue, lets spin that article around.  The article states “41% of households headed by single women are below the poverty level.”

In other words, 41% of households where the woman is too lazy to go to college or learn a trade or skill, those families are below the poverty level.

Instead of saying its the dead beat dads fault that the mom and children are living in poverty, lets lay the blame where it belongs, on the mom. How many of those moms living in poverty have anything besides a high school diploma? How many have a science degree such as engineering or computer sciences?  How many of them sit on their butt and expect other people to provide for them?

See how easy it is to point the finger and place blame?

If the dead beat dad is expected to have a job and support his children, then the dead beat mom should also be expected to have a job.  Need more money to take care of your children?  Get your ass up, get an education or job skills and get a job.

Over the past few weeks I have been posting some of these random thoughts articles.  This type of format gives me the chance to address a wide range of topics in a single post.

What I would like to discuss in this post is the state of the nation.

The United States is going to hell in a handbag, and none of the talking heads in Washington seem to care.  Either they don’t care, or they have been paid not to care.

Food stamp program has increased 100 percent under President Barack Obama.  According to an article on the Daily Caller, food stamp participation is up 100% over the past 4 years.

When obama was elected president the people were hoping for change, but is that the type of change yall were wanting?

Do not blame me for obama getting into office, I voted Libertarian Party.

Should the rich subsidize the poor

Rate This Article

With free trade, and so many companies sending jobs overseas, should the rich subsidize the poor?

If a company can afford to pay its employees well, why shouldn’t said company be required to?  Should companies like walmart be required to pay a higher minimum wage then a mom and pop corner store?

Or roads are falling apart, but foxconn in china is hiring tens of thousands of employees.

Then there is the issue with companies like google setting up offices overseas to lower their tax burden.

If companies are going to exploit free trade and tax loopholes, shouldn’t they be required to give something back?

Apple makes a cool billion in profit, but yet a record number of people are on welfare.

Nobody sees an issue with that?

Is it better to provide welfare to a family where the parents have no life skills, or do we provide a path out of poverty through education?

Even if a path is provided, there is no guarantee the parents will go to school or get take the training.

My wife and I know a certain family, they have 3 young children, oldest is around 7 years old, the dad works, the mom sits at home. There is nothing wrong with staying home with small children. My wife stayed at home with our children.

When the youngest child starts school, the mom has no plans to get to college. Even though her schooling would be paid for by the government, I doubt she has the drive to further her education.

Who benefits the most from welfare

Who are the ones that benefit the most from welfare? The working poor who have 3, 4, 5,,, or more kids.

I have posted this before in various threads, my wife and I know a family that has received some kind of welfare for around 22 – 25 years, and has spanned 3 generations. The kids range in age from mid-20s to around 3 years old.

The grandmother received welfare when she was pregnant, the kids were on welfare their entire lives, and now the newborn grandchild is on welfare.

One of the kids got on social security disability as soon as she tuned 18 years old. And that is after being on welfare since she was born. For her entire life, the lady has received some kind of benefits from the state.

Shouldn’t the state require people who have been on welfare for over 10 years to get some kind of education or job skills?

But where is the money for job training going to come from?  The middle class?  We are already taxed to the limit – income tax, property tax, sales tax, taxes on cell phone bills, taxes on just about everything.

A Nation Greatly Divided

Rate This Article

There is an interesting article in the LA Times – Mitt Romney leads a party packed with paranoids and fabulists. The word fabulists simply means liars. In other words, the republican party is filled with paranoid liars.

The cartoon shows an older couple compared to a younger couple. With the younger couple wearing an obama pin.

A few days ago there was a news program talking about how the younger generations are growing more liberal, while the older conservatives are fading away. For example, for the first time in history, less then 50% of the voters say they are Protestant Christians.

Not only is the nation divided by political parties, we are also divided by liberalism and conservatism, and we are divided by religion, or rather the lack of religion.

Where is this trend of a growing liberal population going to take the United States? It is going to financially bankrupt the US.

Differences between conservatives and liberals

The heart of conservationism is the belief that people should take responsibility for their actions.  Isn’t that the way its always been?  Steal a horse and you get hung, its pretty simple.  Do not work, and you shall not eat, sounds good to me.

Why should we bring children into the world

Rate This Article

I thought about putting this in off topic, but since the discussion will revolve around the current political situation, I decided to put it here.

If we go back 100, 200, 500, 1000 years we had rampant disease, periodic starvation, wars,,, and people still reproduced.

Today, we live in an oppressive society that is overly regulated.

The US is deep in debt, and has no solution in sight.

Seems every nation and their brother and sister has nuclear weapons.

Cost of living has outpaces wages.

With all of this and more, why would anyone want to bring a child into the world?

Even basic stuff, such as home ownership is a fading dream for most people.

College education cost a fortune.

There was once a time when a person could finish high school, then go to work in a shipyard, steel mill, car factory,, and earn a good living. But those days are far behind us.

Why would I want to bring a child into the world, only to watch that child struggle with college, struggle to buy a home, struggle to find a job,,,.

As humanity progresses, shouldn’t things get easier? Shouldn’t getting an education get cheaper and easier? Shouldn’t owning a home get cheaper and easier? Its as if humanity reached a pinnacle in the 1970s, and it was downhill from there.

Wages have stagnated since the 1990s, while cost of living has skyrocketed, especially the cost of home ownership.

One sad fact, the poor are outbreeding the middle class and the rich.

For the middle class and the rich its an economic advantage to only have one, maybe two children. The cost of daycare, clothing, school supplies,,, plays a factor in planning how many children the couple will have.

For the poor, its an economic advantage to has as many kids as possible. The more children the family has, the more benefits they draw. Once the family reaches a certain child:income ratio, the government will give the family grants for the parents to go to school.

If you want your college paid for, have a couple of kids and apply for grants.

One reason we have children is because we want to leave part of ourselves behind. Through our children, and our childrens children, part of us will live forever. But is carrying on our family worth the misery our children will have to go through?

Another reason we have kids is because the husband and wife love each other, and the children are a symbol of that bond. Do you think 3 or 4 generations later anyone is going to give a crap about how much you loved your spouse?

Another reason to have children is partially based on religion. God told Adam and Eve to go forth and multiply. With 6 billion people on the earth, maybe we have multiplied enough?

Governments of the world are corrupt, we produce enough pollution that humans are changing the global climate, and we keep reproducing. Why?
