When Did Society Stop Respecting Police

Kevin Felts political commentator

What has caused society to lose respect for law enforcement? With the innovation of smart phones, video recorders, youtube, liveleak, facebook,,,, etc, police activity can be videoed and shared worldwide in a matter of minutes. The public can see what police have to deal with everyday.

Has the sharing of police activity on social media caused society become hostile to law enforcement?

I think so.

The police preform a job the general public do not understand. Most of us do not see drug users daily, we do not see domestic violence victims daily, we do not deal with the mentally ill daily.

Ever since the death of Michael Brown I have pondered why people get upset when police have to use force. Last night I came across a video that got me to thinking even more about the police and society issue.

The following video is from the Hagerstown Police Department. This should of been a typical traffic accident, but things took a turn for the worse.

Child Support Social Inequality

Kevin Felts political commentator

Here we have another example of child support social inequality – the father is ordered not to have anymore kids, but the mothers are not ordered to do anything.

Society points the finger at the father and says – “do not have more kids then you can support.” What does the mother get? Does she ridiculed for having sex with a man that does not want to support the children they made? Is the mother ordered to get a job and provide health insurance?

The last time I went to a child support review, I saw several dads being put on probation, one father was arrested and handcuffed right there in the court room. Some dads were sentenced to 2 years in jail, but the sentence was deferred as long s they were making payments. If they missed a payment he would be arrested and put in jail.

During the time I was sitting in the court room watching these fathers being sentenced, not a single mother was charged with not paying child support. There were several mothers who did not show up for their hearing a bench warrant was issued for their arrest, not a single deadbeat mom appeared before the judge.

Random Thoughts January 27 2013

The nation is screwed, and I mean royally screwed.

National Debt

The government is so far into debt, there is no way future generations can pay off the debt. As of the posting of this article the US Government is $16.4 trillion in debt. With credit card debt and student loan debt, we owe more like $58 trillion.Kevin Felts, blogger and survivalist

We are throwing millions of dollars to illegal immigrants. Between 2009 and 2011 we spent around $91 million on health care for illegal immigrants.

Social Security disability is expected to go bankrupt by 2016.

Congress is looking for ways to allow millions of illegal immigrants to become citizens.

Asking A Controversial Question

A few days ago I asked a question to the SurvivalistBoards facebook page.

The question is as follows,

“Is it just me, but are most of the mass shootings happening in liberal states?”

To my amazement, I received a couple of hate messages about the question

Since when is it wrong to ask a question?

My opinion, liberalism breeds a sense of entitlement. When someone does not get what they think they are “entitled” to, sometimes they turn to violence.

Texas is a conservative state, and we have had a couple of mass shootings.

Why do some states have shootings, while other states seem to be immune?

One message referred to me having a “us versus them” mindset.

Uh, yea, if someone has a sense of entitlement that liberalism breeds, it is the tax payers against the welfare parasites.

It is those that would harm society, against those that try to follow the law.

My Theory On Why Americans Are So Violent

Overlooking the Angelina River near Jasper, Texas

Here is my theory on why Americans are so violent, and its not that we love violence. When given the chance, most people pick peace and quiet over violence.

If we prefer peace over violence, why do so many people prone to violence?

My opinion, there are two factors that promote violence in our society:

1, The lack of upward mobility.

2, Violence is a learned social behavior.

There is an article on Live Science saying Murder May Spread Like Infectious Disease. That article discusses a couple of important factors, one factor says that murders are more likely to be committed in low income neighborhoods.

If you track murder like a disease, it spreads and burns itself out. But if you look at the tracking on a map, higher income areas have a lower murder rate then lower income areas.

How radical Islam spreads hate

Back in the mid-1990s my wife and I were driving through a poor section of port arthur Texas. There is a welding supply store near the port of port arthur, but to get to that area you have to go through a poor section.

I needed a part for my job, we went to the welding supply store and bought what I needed.

On the way home we stopped at a red light where some blacks (nicely dressed) were handing out papers. I rolled down my window and asked for a paper. The guy would not even look at me, he looked to the side and handed me the paper.

When my wife and I got home I looked at the paper. It was a newspaper filled with racial hate articles pointed towards whites.

There was a cartoon in the paper that showed a couple of people dressed up like the KKK putting bandannas, drugs, guns and beer on a table.

The second image of the cartoon showed a couple of black guys walking to the table.

The third and fourth images were the black guys putting on the bandannas, drinking, taking drugs, then finally killing each other with the guns that were on the table.

In the images, the two klan members were in the background laughing at the blacks.

The caption under the cartoon said something like “do not fall for the tricks of the whiteman”,,, or something like that.

What does this say about a Islam when they blame others for their lack of self-control? Did the klan members in the cartoon “make” the blacks drink, take drugs and shoot each other? No they did not. Those actions were a choice.

Welfare and Contributing To Society

In a republic, how much should citizens contribute back to society?

Is there an obligation to contribute?

What should society do about people who “refuse” to contribute?

Lets use 2 groups of people as examples:

1 – criminals.
2 – individuals who make a career out of welfare.*

* There is a difference in someone that uses welfare as a helping hand to get back on their feet, and someone who lives their entire life off the system. This is about people who expect society to provide for them, while returning nothing to very little back.

Society frowns upon criminals, probably because the criminal takes more from society then they contribute.

Historically, society has tolerated and somewhat frowned upon welfare. We know that members of society need a helping hand from time to time. There is no shame in needing help. The shame should come from being too lazy to help yourself.

How Do We Stop Mass Murderers

Kevin Felts, blogger and political commentator

How do we stop mass murderers from picking up a gun and going on a killing spree?

How do we stop people like David Koresh?

How do we stop someone like Jeffrey Dahmer?

How do we stop someone like the Son of Sam killer?

How do we stop someone like president obama from killing U.S. citizens?

How do we stop someone like George Bush jr from detaining people with no due process of law?

What is the between some mass murderers kidnapping someone off the street, and the CIA thugs? Shouldn’t people be safe from not only each other, but also the government?

What makes Hitler and the Nazis any different then the current US government? Nazis rounded up Jews, the U.S. government is rounding up and/or killing people who are accused of being a terrorist. Neither nation afforded their victims due process of law.

The chronic infection of crime

Anyone here play the game Half-Life 2?

When the guards were chasing gordon freeman, they would say “outbreak” from time to time.

I read somewhere that the guards said “outbreak” because criminals should be treated like a disease. The longer the criminals stayed in the community, the longer they have to spread the infection. The infection being crime.

In the case of the justice being drawn out, the system is being dragged to the knees.

Just as the immune system reacts to clear an infection, so should the justice system act swiftly to remove the infection from society.

The longer the infection stays around, the more damage it does to the system as a whole.

Instead of capturing the infection and destroying it, the legal system releases the infection back into the community to do more damage.

Why the United States is a third world country

survivalistThis article is not trying to debate “if” we are a third world country. I am here to make the statement, “The United States “is” a third world country”. If you think the U.S. is a world leader, you are partially right and wrong. We are a world leader in technology and military weapons. What about other stuff, such as taking care of our children and our elderly? What about internet access? How does the US rank in simple stuff, like health care for all citizens regardless of income levels?

Infant Mortality Rate

The U.S. currently ranks 35th in the world for infant mortality rates. Think about that for a minute, 35th, and we are supposed to be a world leader? Heck, North Korea and Cuba both have a lower infant mortality rate then the U.S. Cuba, which has an an embargo against it for as long as I can remember has a lower infant mortality rate then the U.S.

The U.S. currently ranks #14 GDP (nominal) per capita.

Japan ranks #18 in GDP (nominal) per capita, but has a lower infant mortality rate then the U.S.

Iceland ranks #22 in GDP (nominal) per capita,, but has a lower infant mortality rate then the U.S.

Cuba ranks #88 in GDP (nominal) per capita where the U.S. ranks #14, but Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate.

Having a baby? Want to improve its chance of living? Then move to Cuba.

As much as I love this great nation, we have a long ways to improve in infant care. But then again, we can not place the blame on the doctors, we need to partially blame the parents. How much training in taking care of newborns do parents receive?

Why do we do what we do

survivalistThe age old question, why do we act the way we do? If you have spent any time with other people, you have met someone that is stubborn or so hardheaded that they are difficult to deal with. If you say something, they are ready to tell you how wrong you are. Lets back up a little bit, “why” do people act like that? Why are people stubborn and resistant to change?

Why do we make the decisions that we do?

Why do we act the way we do?

Why does society act the way it does?

Why do we pay taxes like we do?

Why do we vote the way we do?

Why are some cultures in a constant state of conflict?

Why are some cultures in a constant state of peace?

Why are people resistant to change?

Why do we vote the same two failed political parties into office over and over?

Are cultures defined by money, sex, religion, greed,,, all of them, none of them, maybe some of them?
