Bad kids smoke more then good kids

Article on Time.com showing children diagnosed with ADHD are more likely to smoke then kids not diagnosed with the disorder.

In other words, kids who lack self-control and discipline are more likely to smoke then kids who have self-control and have discipline.

Is there really a big surprise there?

If a kid will not listen to the parents or teachers, what makes us think the child will listen and understand warnings about drugs?

Little Johnny, if you do not do good in school you will have problems finding a job. Little Johnny is a brat in school and does not want to do as he is told.

Little Johnny, if you do drugs you will become addicted which will lead to a life of crime. Little Johnny gets strung out on crack, then starts breaking into homes to support his drug habit.

Who do we blame? The kid, the parents, the school, society?

Personally I blame the parents and society.

What is it with kids smoking these days

Is it just me, or are more kids smoking these days as compared to the 1980s?

1980s – kids that smoked were frowned upon. Your smoking? Why?

Today – kids that smoke are no big deal. It seems like one of the first thing kids do when they 18 is start smoking. I have to ask the reason why?

Why start something that will cause so many health issues later in life? Smoking does not make anyone look cool. If anything, smoking makes people look stupid. Because you have to be stupid to contribute to your risk of lung, throat and mouth cancer.

When my third son turned 18 he let it be known that he had started smoking. He asked me something like “I dont guess you approve of me smoking”. I told him “I will never approve of you killing yourself”.
