How Can People Justify Wasting Food

Walking through walmart today, saw a pack of ground meat and steak sitting on a shelf. The shelf was in the canned goods section, and not the cold foods section.

I picked up the meat, checked to see if it was still cold, then took the two packs to the freezer section.

Is this what humanity has come to, that we can waste enough meat that would feed a family for a day, maybe 2 days, or even 3 days?

The person that left the packs of meat on the shelf, have they gone hungry a single day in their lives?

The person that left the meat on the shelf, were they on food stamps or welfare?

Did the person give a single thought to the animal that had to die to put the meat on the shelf?

What about the cost of raising the animal? The cost of butchering, packing and shipping the meat, did the person give a single thought to all of that?

I Wants Me Some Welfare

I am sick and tired of supporting people who are too lazy, or too stupid to get a job. Why should I work a 40 hour a week job, pay child support, pay for health care, barely scrap by,,, when people on welfare get all kinds of free stuff.

I want me some free food.

I want me some free housing.

I want someone to help me pay my electric bill.

I want the state to pay for my kids health care.

Right now I pay close a little over $600 a month for health care and temporary disability insurance.

I have been working since 1984, and what do I have to show for it? Not too much. I may not make a lot of money, but shouldn’t I be able to keep a good percentage of what I earn?

Health insurance alone takes a HUGE bite out of my pay check. Instead of helping the working class out, taxes and health care cost continue to skyrocket.

You want to know what the problem is? I was raised with this little thing called a work ethic. A work ethic is this concept that I believe I should support myself and my family.

Up until around the 1990s there was a stigma that went along with being on welfare.

Today, it seems that people are proud to be on welfare. I gots me some welfare and food stamps,,,, and people see no issue with that.

Welfare is a form of stealing. The government takes from those that do, and gives to those that do not. Too lazy to work? No problem, here is your housing voucher, cell phone, and food stamps.

Random Thoughts October 18 2012 State of the Nation

Over the past few weeks I have been posting some of these random thoughts articles. This type of format gives me the chance to address a wide range of topics in a single post.

What I would like to discuss in this post is the state of the nation.

The United States is going to hell in a handbag, and none of the talking heads in Washington seem to care. Either they don’t care, or they have been paid not to care.

Food stamp program has increased 100 percent under President Barack Obama. According to an article on the Daily Caller, food stamp participation is up 100% over the past 4 years.

When obama was elected president the people were hoping for change, but is that the type of change yall were wanting?

A Nation Greatly Divided by Differences

Kevin Felts political commentator

There is an interesting article in the LA Times – Mitt Romney leads a party packed with paranoids and fabulists. The word fabulists simply means liars. In other words, the republican party is filled with paranoid liars.

The cartoon shows an older couple compared to a younger couple. With the younger couple wearing an obama pin.

A few days ago there was a news program talking about how the younger generations are growing more liberal, while the older conservatives are fading away. For example, for the first time in history, less then 50% of the voters say they are Protestant Christians.

Not only is the nation divided by political parties, we are also divided by liberalism and conservatism, and we are divided by religion, or rather the lack of religion.

Where is this trend of a growing liberal population going to take the United States? It is going to financially bankrupt the US.

Differences Between Conservatives and Liberals

Contributing to society

In a republic, how much should citizens contribute back to society?

Is there an obligation to contribute?

What should society do about people who “refuse” to contribute?

Lets use 2 groups of people as examples:

1 – criminals.
2 – individuals who make a career out of welfare.*

* There is a difference in someone that uses welfare as a helping hand to get back on their feet, and someone who lives their entire life off the system. This is about people who expect society to provide for them, while returning nothing to very little back.

Society frowns upon criminals, probably because the criminal takes more from society then they contribute.

Historically, society has tolerated and somewhat frowned upon welfare. We know that members of society need a helping hand from time to time. There is no shame in needing help. The shame should come from being too lazy to help yourself.

Liberals are detrimental to national security

What if I told you there was a group out there that was undermining our national security? A group that was working together to weaken the nation and to drive us into debt. Well, its really two groups that work together. One group is the giver, the other group is the receiver.

After I tell you about these two groups, what would you be willing to do about it? Would you be willing to change the way you vote?

The two groups that are working together are the liberals, and the people on welfare.

Liberals

Lets start at the root of the problem, and those people are the liberals. These are the democrats, the people who think social programs such as welfare, government oversight, food stamps, public housing,,, are good ideas.

Lets not forget that bill clinton signed free trade agreements into law.

So not only do liberal democrats think putting people on the public dole is a good idea, but sending our jobs overseas is a good idea also.

Who pays for all of the social programs such as welfare and food stamps?

Its not the poor paying, they dont have any money.

Its not the rich paying, because they can buy influence with the law makers.

Its the middle class that ends up paying.

Liberals take from those that are trying to work, and gives to those who do not want to work. How is that fair?

what if obama is reelected

The economy is still bouncing around. Some people say we are in a recovery, while others say we are heading into a second recession.

What is the worst thing that can happen?

I think the absolute worst thing that can happen is for obama to be reelected.

The second worst thing that can happen, is for mitt to be elected.

The US is on a road of self-destruction. Unless there is a total change of leadership, there is no getting off the path.

Even if a lot of new people are elected into congress, there will bee too many old dogs left in place to stop any real change from happening.

Illegal immigration and welfare abuse

survivalistBefore we begin, I want to make it clear that everyone at some time or another may need a helping hand. People lose their jobs, run into financial problems and need some help.

However, the support system was never intended as a way of life.

Our society has cultivated four groups of people:

Group 1 – people who think they are entitled to welfare, or entitled to other social benefits.

After Hurricane Andrew passed through Florida, there were stories of people sitting in their front yards waiting for the government to clean up the mess. When asked why they were not cleaning up their own yard, the reply was something like “the government is supposed to take care of stuff like that”. It was reported that one family had been on welfare for 3 generations. The family had no idea what it was like to do something for yourself. In their minds, the government should do everything.

After hurricane katrina hit new orleans, I was required by my employer to go to the shelter and help out. In all, I think there were close to 200 people at the shelter – men, women and children.

The breaking point

There is unrest in the streets, the people have had enough, our government is corrupt, our factories are closing, our jobs are shipped to china, price of food is going through the roof,,, how much more can we take?

I think if we continue on the current path, the number of people drawing social benefits, and the number of people out of work will drive this nation to a breaking point.

Local governments will not be able to raise enough tax dollars to support themselves, but the people will continue to demand schools, social programs,,,, until something has to break.

I think there are 2 factors working against the US, free trade and too many social benefit programs.
