Garmin GPS

Garmin is the parent company of a group of companies that develops consumer, aviation, and marine technologies for the Global Positioning System. I (Kevin) personally use a Garmin Etrex on all of my hiking and camping trips. Its the one line of GPS that I high recommend. Here are some pictures that I took on various hiking and camping trips.

One of the misconceptions that people have about a Global Positioning System, is that will do anything and everything. A GPS is a luxury item and is no replacement for basic navigation skills, knowledge on how to use a compass, or basic map reading skills. When Navigating in the wilderness, its important to use all of your resources and knowledge. This includes bringing a TOPO map, map compass and GPS. Leaving one part out creates an opportunity for disaster.
