The coming healthcare bubble

This affordable healthcare act is just the tip of an iceberg. The rest of the iceberg has been ignored for years, maybe even decades.

As far back as I can remember my health insurance premiums have gone up every year. Even has my wages stagnated for 20 years my health insurance has gone up.

When I was working for Kingwood cablevision I would get the yearly review around August, and the usual BS excuse that all the company could afford was a 2% raise. But at the same time the stockholders would get a nice dividend. During my review I told my supervisor that the raise would not cover the rise in health insurance premiums. My supervisor asked how I knew our healthcare premiums were going up? I told him they go up every January.

Random thoughts on prepping October 2013

This past weekend I did some soul searching and prioritizing for my SHTF survival plans. I asked myself a serious question. The questions was, “which is more important, food, water, or security?”

Like a lot of people who are prepping for a long term TEOTWAWKI situation I have limited resources. I would love to have a few million dollars to dump into land and an underground bunker. But I do not have that kind of financial resources. But I was lucky enough for my family to own some land in a rural area. While not what some people may consider a perfect bug out location, I have decided to set down roots and start a farm.

I lived in a town with a population of less than 8,000 people, and I lived just north of Houston Texas, and I am now living in a rural area of southeast Texas.

Once you move out of the city to the suburbs prepping plans change a little bit.

Thoughts on the debt ceiling

There was a sci-fi movie back in the 1970s where the united states was attacked by nuclear super powers. Russia and China teamed up, combined their nuclear weapons, launched an attacked and destroyed the United States.

The side effect was with all of those nuclear bombs going off in one area, the earth was knocked off its axis.

The united states has a monopoly on war. Besides nuclear war, there is no other nation that can stand up to us.

One way to bring the US to its knees is through economic collapse. This is the one thing our out of control greed will help accomplish.

This debt ceiling and default stuff might make the world wonder if they would be better off without us.

What other nation flies drone strikes into other nations?

What nation kidnaps people?

What nation works to overthrow foreign governments?

What nation pays its workers minimum wage, then tells them to sign up for welfare?

Maybe the world would be better off without the United States leading the way?

Got our first rooster

My wife and I obtained two heinz-57 roosters that have been rather “neglected.” These are our first roosters, and our first steps to building a self-sustaining chicken flock.

The roosters are going from being wild, never handled, roosted in trees at night type of life, to being in a chicken house with a dozen hens who have been socialized.

Rooster #1 – looks like it has some Rhode Island Red, or maybe Delaware. Its spurs were maybe one and a quarter inches long.

Rooster #2 – is a white body with long black tail feathers. The people who handed the roosters over said #2 had been fighting other roosters, so it had been kept in a cage.

Both roosters are very skinny.

Feather quality of both roosters were poor.

Bantam rooster
